What is Structured Data for SEO?

Structured data is a term that describes data that has been organized according to a specific schema. There are many different types of schemas, including XML, JSON, RDF, and others. Each type of schema has its own purpose and uses.

Types of structured data format

JSON stands for JavaScript Object Notation. It is a lightweight text format designed for human-readable data interchange. It uses simple text formatting rules to encode data values in a compact string value. JSON is a subset of JavaScript object literal notation.

2. XML

XML (Extensible Markup Language) is a W3C standard for encoding documents in plaintext. XML provides a set of tags called elements that describe the content of a document. Each tag consists of a name followed by a colon (“:”), then the opening and closing tags. Tags may be nested inside each other.

3. CSV

CSV stands for Comma Separated Values. It is a file format where each line contains a list of records, separated by commas. Records consist of fields enclosed between double quotes. Fields may have fixed width or variable length.

YAML stands for YAML Ain’t Markup Language. It is a human readable data serialization language similar to JSON. YAML supports Unicode characters and multi-line strings.

RDF stands for Resource Description Framework. It is a family of web description languages based on the concept of triples. An RDF triple consists of subject, predicate, and object. A subject is a resource that exists somewhere in the world. A predicate is a property of a subject. An object is a resource that possesses a particular property.
