A survey by the international research company Our Guider revealed which of the best restaurants in Lahore are the best, how much they are willing to pay for good service, and how much they are willing to tip.
The most votes were given to coffee shops (46%) and takeaway cafes (43%). Restaurants, fast food, and pizzerias were chosen by approximately the same number of people—29, 26, and 24% of respondents, respectively. Pubs and bars have only 10 and 9% of fans, respectively. Sushi bars are the least popular (2%).
Selection criteria
The main factor that people use when choosing an establishment is the price (51% of respondents). In second place is proximity to home or work (41%). In third place are tasty food and drinks (37%). Service was named by 26% of respondents.
Reasons for irritation
Most people are put off by poor staff discipline and intrusive service: 52% of respondents said they would only return to an establishment if the staff were polite. 38% would be put off by tasteless food and drinks, 11% would be afraid of queues, and 9% would fear fraud with bills and checks. 10% were delighted with everything.
Reason for constancy
30% of respondents said that if an establishment presents food and drinks in an original way, they will become regular customers. The informal, friendly treatment of the waiter attracts 18%. For 9%, the feature for which they will return is an unusual greeting to regular customers.
42% of respondents will visit a new establishment only if friends recommend it, and discounts and promotions attract 26%. Only 10% pay attention to outdoor advertising in the city, and 7% will be attracted by proximity to home.
Service fee
People confirm the importance of service quality with their wallets. Thus, 33% of visitors are ready to pay 10% more for excellent service, 33%—20% more, and 13% of respondents are ready to pay a third more for good service.
64% want the waiter to help them choose food, but respect boundaries and not impose their choice.
Tips
48% of respondents always leave a tip, 44% – depending on the service, and 8% – never.
If they have a terrible impression of an establishment, 50% will not go there again, 17% will tell their friends, 14% will complain to the company, and 7.2% will share their negative experiences on social networks.
In the work of the staff, respondents value politeness (27%), knowledge of the menu (19%), speed of service (18%), and staff interest (7%) most of all.
If the service at the establishment is excellent, then 95% of guests will recommend the café to their friends and family.
Frequency of visits
People go to cafes and restaurants mainly to meet friends or loved ones (66% of respondents). The rest celebrate holidays, the end of the work week, and business meetings. Only 4% of Pakistani visitors go to establishments without a reason.
Only 4.2% of respondents visit establishments every day, 23% go to restaurants and cafes once a week, and 18% visit establishments no more than once a month.
