Am I Just Tired, or Is High Blood Pressure Affecting My Performance?

There are occasional periods when men feel that their bodies aren’t functioning properly.
It may not seem as though something is wrong, and there may not be any apparent physical breakdown, but a man may notice that something about his body’s performance has changed and feels “off.”
It seems that the body is having trouble performing. The response isn’t as “smooth,” and the timing of the response is not as “natural.” The confidence that a man previously could rely on comes less easily and with more uncertainty.
When this happens, the man’s natural response is to attribute it to the amount of work/stress he has endured during that day or some type of fatigue. But what if the reason isn’t because of how tired you are, but instead how well your body is circulating the things it needs?

Why Does It Work Fine Sometimes… and Sometimes It Doesn’t?

Because the intermittent experience is so erratic, it creates many questions rather than answers.
If this were a continual problem, it would be much easier to recognize. Because it is difficult to understand how the body functions normally on some days and does not function normally on other days, it creates many more questions than answers.
This inconsistency in circulation could also present itself with fluctuations in blood flow.
High blood pressure does not necessarily completely block circulation; however, it interferes with the way that blood will be able to adjust to the circulation. This means that your body may respond appropriately when the conditions are optimal; however, if there is anything that differs from the optimal conditions, then you may not receive an adequate response.
This is the reason that many men’s experiences do not seem to be completely absent, but only seem to be reliant on the presence of adequate conditions.

Could My Blood Vessels Be the Real Problem?

The answer is most commonly yes.
Blood vessels flex and adapt to the demands of the body. In doing so, they allow the body to respond physically in a smooth and efficient way.
When blood pressure stays high for long periods of time, the elasticity of the blood vessel system is compromised. This means they have a harder time stretching to accommodate a change in demand, and they are slower to do so.
For example, consider how difficult it would be for water to flow through a partially compressed and rigid pipe. Water is still flowing through the pipe, but at a slower and less consistent rate.

Why Does This Start Happening in the 30s or 40s?

Long-term habits will begin to show up in this time period.
How many years you will have influenced your body through your job, eating, stress, and level of activity will determine when you see the signs appear. This process will take several years, and therefore, high blood pressure will likely be a gradual process and will be developed over time.
Consequently, when the body begins to exhibit changes in its ability to perform, these changes will usually reflect a larger, more gradual change that has been occurring over many years.

Is It Possible That I’m Overthinking It?

The link between stress and comfort in preparation is twofold.
Stress will always play a part in how you feel while preparing for a performance, but it is not the only factor influencing how comfortable you are during preparation.
Your physical experience usually comes first; then your brain reacts to it.
When you experience something different than normal, you begin to focus on it differently; then you become aware of that change.
Eventually, the experience begins to change you:
  • You will be more careful
  • You will begin to expect what will happen
  • The current moment will create less comfort
So, although stress contributes to your ability to prepare comfortably for a performance, it is usually a reaction to something physical occurring in your body.

How Does High Blood Pressure Affect the Whole System?

High blood pressure affects the flow of all of the body’s systems. Your body uses a network of different systems to function.
  • Your brain sends messages/signals to your nervous system.
  • The nerves transmit these signals.
  • Your blood vessels change the amount of blood that travels throughout your body.
However, when you have high blood pressure, you disrupt this coordination. High blood pressure affects the processing methods of those messages/signals and how well/reliably your blood vessels respond to those signals.
The body is still functioning, but it is not functioning at the same level as before you had high blood pressure.
As a result, you perceive the changes in the body to be less dramatic when the changes are actually dramatic.

Can Lifestyle Really Make That Much of a Difference?

You might be surprised at how much difference it can make.
For example, habits related to both blood pressure and circulation are intertwined.
Here are several things that can cause high blood pressure and slow circulation rates:
  • Sedentary behavior (i.e., sitting for long periods of time) slows down blood flow.
  • Eating too many processed foods negatively impacts the health of your arteries.
  • Lack of quality sleep interrupts your body’s ability to heal.
  • Chronic stress keeps you in ‘fight or flight’ mode.
These aren’t “on the spot” problems; they will just continue to modify your overall health and well-being over time.
The good news is that you can modify each of these factors back into a healthier state!

What Happens When Blood Flow Improves?

You’ll start to feel normal again.
Not right away, but progressively.
In addition to improving your ability to manage blood pressure, there are many other positive benefits to improving circulation, including:
  • Increased flexibility of blood vessels
  • Improved efficiency of circulation
  • Continuing to develop steadiness and predictability in your reactions
This isn’t about forcing your body to perform; it’s about allowing your body the opportunity to perform at its highest level naturally through optimal health.

Is There a Way to Support the Process in the Meantime?

Yes, and many men use a combination of methods.
While working on long-term improvements to their health, some men use medical methods that will temporarily improve blood flow, which support continued response, through guided treatment for erectile dysfunction with medications like Cenforce, Fildena, Kamagra, etc.
These treatments do not replace making healthy lifestyle changes or managing blood pressure, but can help rebuild confidence while making necessary transitions.

Why Do So Many Men Ignore This Until It Gets Worse?

Because there are no symptoms to indicate that something is wrong. No pain. No obvious change in your everyday life. Just a slow change that is easy to ignore.
Additionally, as many men consider these issues sensitive, they generally avoid discussing them with anyone near them, including professionals.
However, the sooner the issue is addressed, the easier it will generally be to manage it.
Continuing to ignore this issue does not make it go away; it can cause the underlying cause of the symptom to continue progressing.

The Real Insight: Your Body Is Signaling, Not Failing

What you may perceive as an operational failure could really just be a message from your body.
Signals can indicate poor circulation, inefficient circulation, or any other internal health matter that will eventually manifest outside of the body.
When you change your perspective from “fixing this moment” to “improving the mechanism causing this to happen”, the focus changes to an understanding of how to strengthen the entire system.
Once the mechanism is improved, the systems built on that mechanism, including self-assurance, reliability, and self-control, are improved.
